The FiST is low on gas, I’m lazy, and the Slowrunner was almost full, so for the first time since April, the Slowrunner got driven to work.
I forgot how relaxing it is. It’s care free, almost comfortable. No shifting in traffic, it idles through when traffic is crawling, and it’s visibility is better than anything I’ve ever driven.
That said, it still needs tons of work, and it is slow.
I almost miss this view on a daily basis, then I remember that Kona gets triple the MPGs, is hilarious when the boost kicks in, and has a much better sound system.

No, it’s more like “What was that sound? Oh no! Oh, it was the car beside me. Wait, what is that burning smell?"

Admit it: you really like the Fiesta; you
love
the SlowRunner.

I pretty much already have. I’ve bonded with the Slowrunner in a way that I haven’t with the Fiesta. It’s fun, and I really like it, but the personality isn’t there. Plus, there are memories with the 4Runner that can’t be replicated by the Fiesta.

Exactly how I feel about my poor Celica. I can’t wait to get in my beater pickup when I need to go somewhere.

The difference for me is, I’m indifferent, I love driving the Fiesta too. And it’s all situational. I can take the Fiesta distances that I would not dare take the Slowrunner, but I can take the Slowrunner places where the Fiesta would break.

Well I guess I’m looking for my own “Fiesta” still then. A car I can enjoy that is more suited for daily use.

2003-04 Matrix XRS with all the valve lift.

Hah, I don’t know. Our Vibe is effectively the same car, and it’s a good appliance, to be sure.

But it does not have the 2ZZ. The 2ZZ is life. The 2ZZ is love. 8500rpms of love.

Sounds like Crusty. A little ugly but as loyal as a Labrador.

Rust wise, it’s probably one of the cleanest Toyotas out there. It’s just the steering and suspension components that are held together by worn out parts...

Me every day.
No idea why, it’s been dead reliable.

How many miles are you sporting on yours?

Somewhere between 175k and 200k would be my best guess. The Transmission Speed Sensor died, taking the odometer, trip meter, and speedometer with it

Besides head gaskets, so she mine, but I know it’s 20 years old and needs a bit of work.

The difference here is yours is a 20yo Toyota feeling it’s age and mine is a pre-bankruptcy Chevy. OK, post bankruptcy, but the design is from 2004. So much squeaky cheap shit. It might not break but it feels like it may want to.
...and I don’t care
